A character with great personality, coupled with allure, who on top of
it all cooks with fascinating flare – you have Chef Nizar Achmad, who takes on
a whole new level of the 5 C’s: charismatic, charming, captivating, crafty, and
most importantly – CHEF.
Passionate about food since his teenage years, Nizar undertook culinary
training in Auckland back in 1993. He worked his way up as a chef beginning in
New Zealand, then Australia, Sweden and Norway, before moving back to Sweden to
become the head chef in Söders Bönder – where his unique concept created a new
lunch menu every day for over 300 guests, followed by busy dinners.
Subsequently, he became the Executive Chef and owner of Carpe Diem Bar &
Restaurant in Stockholm.
Later on Chef Nizar returned to his roots in Indonesia for several years
to become the Executive Chef for Jackrabbit Restaurant, before visiting
Malaysia to become a consultant guest chef for Suffolk House in Penang for
three months. In 2012, Nizar settled in Malaysia to set-up his unique Nordic
cuisine concept in Penang – Five27. In 2013, Chef Nizar was invited to be the
guest chef at BEAST by Big, situated at The Intermark.
Chef Nizar’s culinary style can be described as “Modern Nordic Cuisine”.
Taking advantage of his Indonesian culinary roots, Nizar combined these with
French and Swedish influences, to create his own brand of exceptional cooking.
Orchan profiled Chef Nizar Achmad and helped in his pursuit of growing
Nordic cuisine in Malaysia. The Nordic approach of cuisine and the charms of a
dedicated chef is definitely an interesting combination – those whom tasted
Chef Nizar’s food always leave feeling impressed and delighted.
