Introducing US VR Global Inc's "Hero Central Park"

Image
My first experience with virtual reality (VR) was an unexpected one. While visiting an associate’s office, I was promptly ushered to her colleague’s workstation, where an Oculus Rift waited to wrap around my head. I didn’t know what I was getting into, but as I was putting it on, she told me to “to and stand as still as you can”. “Challenge accepted,” I thought. Well, never have I been so wrong! Not the exact roller coaster ride I was on, but you the gist. Sourced from www.riftinfo.com It may not look like it, but while I had the headset on, it sure felt like I was moving along with the roller coaster. I almost removed it, but intrigue surpassed “fear”. So, when Farrell came and discussed with the team about introducing US VR Global Inc to the media, I was excited. The idea of combining technology with playtime beyond smart devices appealed to me, and I liked the idea of reintroducing the concept of playgrounds to young generation. Here’s what you need to know about ...

PR Practitioners as Parents

Image
While going through Ragan’s PR Daily just the other day, I came across Robby Brumberg’s article on why PR pros make great parents. While I may not be a parent (yet), most of his points parallel a friend’s experience with her children. As a PR practitioner and a parent, she especially agreed to Robby’s third point on “reframing bad situations in a positive light”. Check out his article below, or click here to read it on Ragan’s PR Daily. Do share with us if you’ve thought about other PR practices that help with parenting. Why PR Pros Make Great Parents Image source: www.123rf.com What’s the secret to parenting? Mankind continues to seek answers regarding the vexing pursuit of child-rearing, but I may have found a break in the case. There’s no right way to raise little ones, and no proven methods of fostering responsible consumption of cookies or “Paw Patrol,” but it’s clear that PR pros have a huge head start when it comes to parenting. Public relations practices,...

Taking it to Towering Heights: Servcorp Launch @ Ilham Tower

Image
The Servcorp Skyline About eighteen (18) months ago, Orchan had the privilege to launch Servcorp Malaysia’s then newest serviced suite complex in the fashionable, and certainly iconic Nu Sentral. A small affair, with clients, friends of Servcorp, and a few media in attendance, Servcorp Nu Sentral was opened with all the fanfare and sophistication of a high end property launch. Fast forward to last evening; and we were at it again. This time, in the very swanky Ilham Tower, just opposite The Troika – on the fringe of Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle. Think miles and miles of steel, acres of shiny, reflective glass, and stunning architectural design that would ensure any architect remains on the map; Ilham Tower certainly represents the new breed of skyscrapers; and Servcorp’s ultra-sleek and certainly impressive Level 33 facility screams style and professionalism, in a stunningly conservative way, of course. It was a rainy Kuala Lumpur evening, as one can expect for this time...

Humans of Orchan | Richard Low

Image
Second Chances Are Always Good Intern Richard and girlfriend “Good Morning, Richard from Orchan Consulting, how may I help you?” That’s the first thing I learnt in Orchan. I’m 21 years old and currently in the last year of my Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations. Like most undergraduates, I have been looking forward to starting my internship. I just like how it throws me into the actual working environment, rather than forces me to read textbooks.  Finding an Internship I was browsing through the web looking for companies offering internships, when I found Orchan. It struck me, “where have I heard this before?” (I heard it from a sharing session of a senior, Yi Jing.) Being curious, I dug deeper and found Orchan’s website. The groovy music was somewhat amusing, and those weird-looking Orchanites jumping and running around was freaking awesome. Never had I ever come across a website like this. Without knowing, I read through Orchan’s entire website, and found out what they...

A Simple Way to Sell to Hipsters

Image
It’s funny how many marketers consider hipsters’ need to be different (and actually being different) as one of the significant challenges of selling conventional products to them; when as a matter of choice, brands can comfortably win by looking at it the other way around – that is by being different themselves. Here’s an example of how products which are not appealing to a typical hipster can be turned into an otherwise eye candy to many hipsters out there. Artist Shows How to Repackage Junk Food So That Hipsters Would Buy It You'll never find a box of Cap'n Crunch or a pack of Slim Jims in a hipster's house. Why? Well, aside from the fact that neither are organic, the colors of the packaging would simply clash too much with all of the other artfully designed products in their food cupboard. But what would such products look like if they too had the hipster makeover? Well take a look at the pictures below to see for yourself. They were created by Dan Meth, a ...

Launching an Army

Image
Sometimes in this job, we get to do the most unusual and amazing of things. It’s one of the reasons I love the industry so much, and thrive on the vastly different array of clients that come through our doors, seeking counsel, strategic support, and of course, ‘fame’ (well, publicity). CodeAr.my was one such project. Originally named ‘Work Pad’ (not very exciting, right?), CodeAr.my was a huge collaborative effort between entrepreneurs, designers, coders, a PR Company, and a few external agencies. The concept behind CodeAr.my – seeking employment opportunities for Malaysian graduates on a global stage. The rationale – quality graduates, available to deliver world-class outcomes for clients, but need the chance. CodeAr.my was a platform. It connected those seeking work in the broader technology industry, with those needing freelancers (and more) in the industry to support projects. The platform facilitated introductions, kept track of communications, milestones, paymen...

Blast from the Past - Plaza Phoenix (Cheras Sentral)

Image
When we took on Plaza Phoenix (now known as Cheras Sentral) as a client, we were challenged to step outside our comfort zone. As opposed to just announcing the rebrand and redevelopment to the community, we faced with a few other PR issues to restart the project. But, the hurdle did not end there. What should we do when the developer was unable to bring a group of over 125 strata title owners in order to move forward? Internal communication. Previously, we wrote about the importance of internal communication (if you haven’t read about it, you can read it  here ) and it became a vital component in our communication strategy. Considering it involved over 125 parties, it’s fair to say it took some time. But most importantly, we became the trusted go-between for the parties and were able to put across non-emotional information to all who were involved, in a straight forward manner. Besides undertaking the responsibilities of meeting all the individual strata owners, w...

Blast from the Past - Environ Skin Care

Image
Environ® is a skin care brand founded and created by renowned South African cosmetologist, Dr Desmond Fernandes. The brand was founded out of desperation to both cure and prevent melanoma, after Desmond lost two young patients to skin cancer. Being the brain behind Environ®, Desmond’s interest in photo-damage and the study of skin, made him realise that in order to rejuvenate a patient, a healthy younger-looking skin and a younger structure are needed. Thus, Environ® takes a different approach to skin care, by supplementing the skin topically through replacing lost vitamins, especially with topical vitamin A which reinvigorates the genes of your skin cells, making the skin younger. Perfect for all skin types, Environ® products replenish and help reverse skin health into the pink. High effective doses of vitamin A is Environ’s skin care advantage while the right amount of antioxidants, vitamins E and C, resveratrol and beta-carotene are also included in the products. Besides, th...
