Either way, getting it right from the start will maximise your chances of success. L ed by Michelle Nunis and Dr Craig J Selby, this workshop will help decision-makers embrace collaborative partnerships and projects, by reframing perspectives on collaboration initiatives, showing how to establish robust groundwork to leverage and maximise each sides strengths, and to develop tools to work together to overcome any co...

Cultivating Online Employee Advocacy | Three Tips to Guide Your Team to Post More on Social Media

Cultivating Online Employee Advocacy | Three Tips to Guide Your Team to Post More on Social Media Having employees as brand / employer ambassadors is a great way to accelerate brand messages, but to also give a stronger insight into the fantastic things that your organisation does (not sells) on an everyday basis. So, here's three (3) tips to help you guide your team to be strong brand advocates for your organisation: (1) Curate Clear Guidelines Ensure you have clear guidelines on what is and is not acceptable on social media. Whilst we can't intrude into their private lives, we can guide as to what is ethical and socially-acceptable practice holistically, and we can guide as to 'what' and 'how' to share content related to our brand. Make sure your guidance (policy) includes not only Engagement Guidelines (best practice content and interaction), but also Brand / Branding Guidelines so that they posit the company in the right light...

Blast From the Past | Orchan & the Pageant Queens

Image
Orchan & the Pageant Queens Who ever thought Craig would be involved with a bunch of Beauty Queens (well, contestants, at least)? Well, he was …. Throwback to ten years and about five days ago (yup, that precise)!  Orchan was working with Miss Universe Malaysia to do a total rebrand of the pageant, and breathe new life into a brand that was losing the twinkle in its crown. Not only did we do the 'expected' public relations type stuff (you know, press conferences, winner stories, photo shoots, etc), we also focused on the rebrand initiative and what it meant for the future of the pageant, and we delved further into the operations – being involved in the very first reality TV / webinar series for the contest in Malaysia. Not only was that a first, but our initiative to train the contestants in public speaking and media communications had not been done before either in Malaysia, and gave both Farrell and Craig an opportunity to work with each contestant in a d...

New Webinars | Making it Happen in Business As Unusual (May 2020)

New Webinars | Making it Happen in Business As Unusual (May 2020) The past six weeks have made most of us take a good, deep look at what we are doing, and hopefully, ascertain new ways to move forward as a result. Many businesses are stuck in shock, surprised that a lockdown of this scale could ever affect them, and moreover, think that the way forward is business as usual once things go back. But its not; the new normal will be our normal from this point forward, and it is our responsibility to ourselves and our stakeholders to salvage the best of what we can from what has happened, and to look at new opportunities and pivot towards these. This may include new forms of business, new product or service offerings, unexpected collaborations, or even the need to rebrand our personal expertise to address new questions. None of this is easy, but it is essential. The Orchan team have been busy not only addressing these questions for our business, but also in cu...

Don't Let the Door of Opportunity Slam in Your Face

Image
Don't Let the Door of Opportunity Slam in Your Face The economic and social lockdown of the past six weeks has taught some businesses a valuable lesson - DO NOT live in the past! Business continuity planning must be at the fore of all activities for a brand, and being blindsided by an external action should not stop you dead in your tracks. Being blindsided should initiate an immediate refocus, but too many businesses took the moment (or many moments) to say, "lets wait and see" rather than "act now". For some of them, the new opportunities that were presented at the time, have now passed, as competitors jumped on the bandwagon. Hellen Keller's quote is so relevant to today: we must look forward to new opportunities, rather than looking back wondering why the old opportunity let us down. They didn't - you let yourself down by staring at the past too long - losing the window of opportunity for the future. Harsh yes, but a genuine reality ...

Crisis Management Tools | Stakeholder Outreach During Covid

Crisis Management Tools | Stakeholder Outreach During Covid Bringing Brand Continuity to the Forefront Warning: Videos by Craig may get you thinking! This week, Orchan Director Dr Craig J Selby ran a public webinar for ACCA Malaysia, to discuss issues of Crisis Management, Stakeholder Outreach, and Business Continuity with Covid. Short Teaser | Before the Webinar They wanted to talk Crisis Management, but they needed to put it in the bigger picture of Covid. They needed to discuss Social Media, and they knew they wanted to touch on issues of Business Continuity. What an eclectic collection of topics, or was it? Actually, all quite relevant. At the heart of the Crisis intertwined with Covid is the need for business continuity, and the enhanced role that social media plays in the lockdown period. Moreover, the interconnectedness of these elements created a viable platform to show how stakeholder outreach can be effective in the current time, and how that ...
