By Jeev, I think he’s got it!
Greetings readers, and welcome to my post.
Yeah, that was my introduction.
Call it too simple or mainstream but
seldom do I have much to say about myself. Anyway, here goes.
My name is
Jeevandran and I’m a 32-year-old student from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman,
studying Public Relations. In case anyone is wondering, YES!!, I’m still a
student, and NO!! I’m not too old to be an intern. Most people would think that
I’ve been working for the past ten (10) years but sorry to disappoint everyone,
I’m still a student. Thinking of being a student, I do miss my days at
university. Let’s just say that this phase of my life is 'being in transition' for now.
A bit about myself, coming from the humble city of Ipoh, I’ve accustomed
myself to driving at my own pace, spending no more than 20 minutes on the road,
and only stressing about what’s for lunch or dinner. After coming to Kuala
Lumpur, things will never be the same. Coming from multi-disciplinary
background, I’ve tried the fields of Biology, Information Technology, and
finally most recently Public Relations. In each field I’ve learnt more than any
other student I’ve come across during my days in university. I found my calling
in Public Relations, and I’ve been eager to get out of university to start my
corporate experience. Much is definitely different about the perfect scenarios
that I learnt about, and it’s harder to deal with. Welcome to the Real World of
PR (just baby steps for now).
Enough about me, let’s talk about this wonderful internship opportunity
at Orchan Consulting. When I first met Craig and Farrell, I was overdressed
like a penguin, sitting at Baba Low’s, prepping for my interview. It was a
completely different experience for me and it has changed my perspective about
how Orchan operates (In a good way). They gave me a chance and brought me
onboard. Fast forward to today, by the time this post is out, I’ll be in my second
week of training. Learning the ropes and doing my best to keep up with amount
of work I have.
Thus far, I’ve done research for potential clients, media calls, festive
listings, and there’s more to come. They did tell me that they would throw me
into the deep end; I might be sinking but I shall not quit. Instead I will
paddle as hard as I can till I can float with ease. Orchan offers a great
opportunity for anyone who wishes to experience what the real world of PR is about.
Orchestrating Change, the Orchan tagline. Change is always needed in any company,
staying afloat, and ahead of the game. Which is one of the reasons why I chose
Orchan Consulting Asia for my internship.
