Is LinkedIn Social Media? In our series #QuestionsFromTheFloor, I take a look at the question - Is LinkedIn Social Media? This was meant to be an off-camera discussion with Farrell discussing potential content, but we somehow caught it on tape, and decided to include it. For a lot of people, the concept social media refers to non-professional sites and apps where they can share personal and social life experiences. But I believe it has a wider meaning and purpose - anything that connects us to others, for whatever purpose, is social media. That includes professional sites like LinkedIn, as well as apps like WhatsApp (dark social).  Do let us know your opinion on the topic!

Many of us see social media as the protagonist in a crisis, but the truth is, it is simply a reflection of and a vocalization tool for the underlying concern or issues. A catalyst for change or action, or even facilitating response.  Social media accelerates the visibility of the issue, but it doesn't create the issue - that was always there.  Businesses should use social media platforms as a listening tool just as much as they use it as an advertising and visibility.
