Is LinkedIn Social Media?

In our series #QuestionsFromTheFloor, I take a look at the question - Is LinkedIn Social Media? This was meant to be an off-camera discussion with Farrell discussing potential content, but we somehow caught it on tape, and decided to include it.

For a lot of people, the concept social media refers to non-professional sites and apps where they can share personal and social life experiences. But I believe it has a wider meaning and purpose - anything that connects us to others, for whatever purpose, is social media. That includes professional sites like LinkedIn, as well as apps like WhatsApp (dark social).
