Nine Years and Counting
Wow, what a ride it has been. This month we celebrate nine years of Orchan – a fantastic achievement for two guys who bootstrapped a boutique Agency out of an apartment with no team. Nine years later and we boast an impressive range of clients, phenomenal experiences along the way, a number of awards, and best of all, a heightened sense of motivation to do things differently from the others. We're still a boutique Agency, but a damn-good, kick-ass one at that! And proud of it too.
Over the past nine years we have represented some fantastic people and brands – from supermodels to TV personalities to local startups to global technology companies. Not wanting to get pigeonholed into certain areas of PR, we have always strived to prove that a good marketer can represent any brand category, and I believe we have certainly proven ourselves.
We have grown from strength to strength, and have collectively learnt a lot along the way. With each new client comes both new challenges and new opportunities to develop our understanding of how different industries work. We’ve had some phenomenal clients who have taught us about commercial and retail property, the broader food and beverage industry, technological change and adaptation, and most importantly, about running an ethical business.
Our staff and former team members continue to be a constant source of pride. One of our first team members is due to finish her PhD next year, with one more in the throws of starting his, and another leaving Malaysia to pursue his Masters. Another has traveled the region working with some fantastic startups (and a couple of global tech brands too) and has shown us all that hard work brings its own rewards. Others have moved on and followed their hearts, their dreams, but are still part of our family.
We have moved from Public Relations to Strategic Public Relations. We deal with Branding, Business Strategy, and a big add to our stable of offerings in the past few years has been Training – mostly in Crisis Communications and Change Management.
Both of us are still very hands-on, and we still offer our clients that level of service. We like to get our hands dirty, and we love working with clients. I guess, after all this time, Orchan is still a very rewarding journey for us – professionally and personally – and may that journey continue for many years to come.
Anyway, raise your glasses for a toast: Happy Birthday Orchan! Happy Birthday Orchan family!
