Blast from the Past | Red Bull Racing F1NALE

To say that the F1 weekend ended on a bittersweet note is an understatement, especially for avid fans. What started off as an action-packed week, with numerous calls to schedule interviews with Red Bull Racing drivers – Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen – and garage tours, ended with sweet victories as they made history to become the final F1 Sepang winners (or at least until the next F1 takes place again).

Prior to the race, Daniel and Max took some time out for some light-hearted off-track challenges. From trying to match fruits and herbs to their names, to making tropical drinks with the aforementioned ingredients such as cili padi (ehem, Daniel), it was absolutely fun witnessing them and their bromance outside the race track. Check out the video below for some laughs!

When they sat with the media to talk about their fondest memories here, Daniel was quick to respond with “winning!” which immediately drew laughter. “Last year really made my memories here nicer,” and added that he will miss the physical challenge presented on track. “It’s not pleasant, but if you complete a good race and overcome the challenge of the heat, it’s a rewarding feeling.”

With Max’s birthday taking place on the race weekend, he had wished for what he achieved last year – a second place. “We’ll keep trying and staying positive, aiming for the best results,” he humbly said. Guess what he got himself?

His Second Grand Prix Victory
Commenting on the finale, Max hopes the Sepang F1 will make a comeback in the future. To fans out there, “thank you for all the support. I’ve raced here since 2006 even before Formula 1, so I’ve been here for quite a long time. Nevertheless, we hope you enjoyed it,” Daniel said.

“2006… I was eight!” Max said in fascination.
