Purplehouz Fine Arts in Petaling Jaya was launched on 1 July 2011 in conjunction with local artist, Khalil Ibrahimʼs solo exhibition entitled – “A Tribute to Khalil Ibrahim”, featuring the artists’ lifetime work. Officiated by Malaysia’s former Prime Minister, Abdullah Badawi, the launch was an event to bring together art lovers from all walks of life and to celebrate art in all of its forms.

Purplehouz Fine Arts not only has the philosophy to make art more accessible to the community through exhibitions and gallery space, it also provided the perfect venue for promising artists to share their passion and exhibit their work. Purplehouz is designed as a space where artists, collectors and art lovers come together to appreciate art.

For this launch, and the associated exclusive tribute to Khalil Ibrahim, invited guests and member of the public were able to enjoy five decades of the legendary artist’s dedication to producing distinctive artwork. This two-month long exhibition featured more than 200 exclusive pieces dating back to the 1960ʼs, including his famous East Coast series, Wau series, along with some of his rare batik pieces.

Orchan coordinated the media launch for Purplehouz.
