any barriers stand in his way. The result, an exception designer with a “heart
and soul”.
A Secret Rendevous with Bran et Daguet
If fashion could ever be described succinctly by words, it would
include words
like sophistication, subliminal, and sensual.
Although other people might consider other words and
definitions,
Brandon Tan, creative director of Bran et Daguet, holds these
values close to
his heart, evident from their incorporation at his new fashion
show – Secret Rendezvous,
at the Heritage Wing
of Eastern and Oriental Hotel in Penang.

Secret
Rendezvous
is Bran et Daguet’s
latest fashion show in demonstrating their vision for the 2014
Spring and
Summer collection; featuring glamorous models, a picturesque
backdrop of the
setting sun in Penang, and a unique interpretation that breaks
away from the
traditional catwalk, the fashion show was as much about
delivering surprises and
a new experience as it was about the couture pieces. Accompanied
by Brandon’s
innovative vision for pushing boundaries, his collection has
once more brought
new elements that challenge the conventional – such as
experimental silhouettes
and cuts of dresses that accentuate the already exotic materials
employed.
The
format
of the fashion segment was nothing short of a spectacle to
behold, from
the ambience of the hall, the unorthodox runway that circled the
atrium, to the
manually articulating lift that transported models up and down,
the show
provided its audience excitement and an appreciation of
creativity with every
passing dress. The show saw Kelly Jagan, Ford Supermodel 2009,
open and close
the show adorning Brandon’s signature sequin-laced evening gown,
reminiscent of
Cheongsams of centuries past but with contemporary motives that
blend
seamlessly into one functional yet aesthetic piece.
A
total of twenty pieces were showcased at Bran et Daguet’s Secret
Rendezvous. With a
variety of silhouettes
and fabrics, there was certainly no shortage of surprises.
Notable evening
gowns included a back-slit, beige top, hand stitched with
sequin, an A-line
black wool dress with 3D beads, styled to juxtapose a full black
velvet
off-shoulder evening gown.
A
number of cocktail dresses for more chic events were also
included, which saw
Brandon incorporate much velvet, flowery fabrics, and
intricately laced sequin
to create stunning masterpieces.
Notable
pieces included, a black velvet, capped sleeve, and hand
stitched neckline
dress, a laser cut lace black velvet dress, a two piece beige
and pink sequin
dress.
In
addition,
the show also saw familiar celebrity faces and friends of Bran
et Daguet,
including Kimberly Leggett, Miss Universe Malaysia 2012, who
wore an elegant
fishtail dress, made from a combination of wool, silk, and gold
sequin. “I’m delighted
to be a part of Bran et
Daguet’s fashion show. Brandon has such a discerning eye in
creating his
dresses and such a sharp sense in design.
He really understood my taste and tailored something
truly unique.”
“Secret Rendezvous is
about distilling
the essence of fashion into simple elements that are prominent
and outstanding
in their own righteous ways. The
show
incorporates exotic materials and edgy silhouettes that
complement each other
very naturally. Furthermore,
the
location and venue set-up really enhances the feel of the pieces
in terms of
its elegance and beauty. I
really want
to thank my guests and the media who are here for always
supporting Bran et
Daguet, this is just a glimpse of what’s to come in 2014, much
more is in the
pipeline for everybody’s enjoyment” Brandon Tan described.
